A Celebration of Making a Difference

On May 16-17, 2024, the Jimmy Rane Foundation (JRF) held its annual Charity Golf Tournament and Banquet in Montgomery, Alabama. More than 1,000 supporters of the JRF gathered at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center for the Thursday evening banquet. Having Coach Nick Saban, a nine-time National Coach of the Year, as the keynote speaker made this year's event one to remember.

The 2024 event was a huge success, raising a record $2 million. The Foundation is thrilled about the positive impact this will have on our deserving recipients – our JRF family. Over 1,000 guests participated in our silent auction and banquet. Together, we celebrated our shared goal of providing college scholarships to deserving students and strengthening our communities through education projects and grants. For the first time in 24 years, the golf portion of the event had to be canceled due to strong rains. However, that did not dampen the spirit of support for the JRF mission.

HighLights of the 2024 Event

Heartfelt Speeches

We had the privilege to hear from many people near and dear to the Foundation during the banquet. Our very own founder, Jimmy Rane, shared his heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming support the JRF receives each year. Guest speakers, such as alumni recipient Alexis Stewart (pictured right), retired head coach Wimp Sanderson, and motivational speaker John Riley, shared memories and uplifting messages. Each of their words were a touching reminder of the impact of our work.

Silent Auction

The 2024 silent auction offered an array of impressive items for bid. From exciting trips to tokens of renowned sports celebrities, there was something for anyone and everyone. Raising approximately $64,000 through the silent auction alone, the competitive bidding proved the participants’ dedication to our ongoing mission.

Banquet Q&A With Jimmy Rane and Nick Saban

A memorable aspect of the Thursday night activities was the Q&A between Jimmy Rane and keynote speaker Coach Nick Saban. The two exchanged many memories and lessons they’ve learned during their years in leadership. Coach Saban also touched on his plans for retirement, and he also expressed excitement about future plans for his family’s charity, Nick’s Kids Foundation.

Twenty-Four Years of Empowering Young Scholars

The Jimmy Rane Foundation has celebrated many achievements over the past year. In 2024, the Foundation was proud to award 60 scholarships – tying with 2023 for the most scholarships ever awarded in a single year. The JRF has awarded 680 renewable scholarship awards since 2002.

At the heart of our Foundation is a simple yet powerful mission: “It’s about giving something back.” We believe education is a powerful tool that can transform lives and communities. Jimmy Rane says, “As the Foundation moves forward, it is my hope that for many years to come, we can continue to make students' dreams of a college education a reality and that one day our Foundation scholars will ‘give something back’ for the next generation.”
